New Baby

6-24-08 11:45 pm. Our new baby girl was born. She was 7 lbs. 13 oz., 21 inches long. Michele labored and gave birth to the new baby in our tub. This is immediately after the birth.
A close up of the baby, just a few minutes old in my (Taylor's) arms.
Cleaned up a bit and dressed.
Close ups of sleeping and in a bath.
Amelia is extremely excited about having a baby sister. I've never seen her so hyper for so long.
The boys have had fun taking turns holding the new baby. We (Michele) have not been able to decide on a name. Don't hold your breath.

A long weekend and "Another One Bites The Dust"

I just got a family update from a good friend of mine from Ithaca. She is one of those amazing people you are just so grateful you have had the opportunity to know. One of the things she talked about were some cute ideas she worked out with her daughter who was having a hard time controlling her temper. My two favorite sayings she came up with are, “READY, SET, BLOW!! MAKE THAT YUCKY FEELING GO!” Another one was “Hug a mommy, Hug her tight, Hug her ‘till you feel alright!” When you talk to people who try so hard to be a good parent, it really inspires me to be better and work harder. It is very hard to be a good parent so I love when I get new ideas from people. This was a great thing to read for me beacause the whole update was completely up lifting which is what I needed after my weekend. I have a little more then a week before due date and I am both excited and nervous. I am feeling more and more tired every day. I want to do so much more then I can and a lot of days I just go forward and then I pay for it by evening. On Friday morning Taylor (Taylor has every other Friday off) and I went out to the grass and pulled all the crab grass starts from our big section of sod. It took 3 hours starting at 6 am to get about 3/4 of the way done. But by that evening every joint was aching and I just didn't want to move. We did get that job done on Saturday along with putting in the boarder around all the grass with some help from our good friends the Cornaby's who are passing through Denver on there way to Spanish Fork since they graduated from Cornell. Sherilee Cornaby is 7 months pregnant with her third so we make a nice pair. With that introduction to my pregnant friend I'll go on with my weekend. This morning was really a hard morning for me. I couldn't sleep in even though it was a perfect morning for it, so a was awake before 6am. I was climbing out of bed when I heard the phone ring. It was my sister Marie announcing the birth of her third, another girl which is very exciting, except after she told me her birth story I kind of slipped into a funk because her story is almost the most perfect birth story I have ever heard and my attitude was pretty poor, thinking that mine will never be that good. Following that conversation I was looking out the window at my garden and what do I see but a pesky rabbit climb and then jump over my "rabbit proof fence" that cost way more then it should. I promptly grabbed shoes and went to tell that rabbit what for and it smartly did the same maneuver to get back out of the garden and run away. Now before 7 am I saw him get in again and try a third time before I threw my shoe at it. Well in the mean time my friend Sherilee comes out to join me in my sorry attempts at keeping the rabbit away from my tender plants, I sit down in our hammock (built to hold 400 lbs) I scoot over and she comes and sits with me. And before I knew what had happened, we were both on the ground. I don't think it would have been so bad except our hammock is a free standing unit that has the bar across the bottom as a support so both of us have a lovely bruise and very sore lower backs. So after two hours of church neither one of us could handle sitting in those chairs any longer, home we came and since then it has been a very lovely Sunday, with Taylor pampering me to no end on FATHERS DAY! How ironic, since I had racked my brain to figure out the different fun things I was going to do for him.

No Photos

I have no new photos to post but I will tell you I am so tired of being pregnant. Most of the time it is just fine but those few times when you have to jump up to save something from spilling or stop a fight, thats when I notice it the worst. I either feel like my head jumps up but my body doesn't move or everything gets up quick enough but all the aches and pains it causes did not make it worth the bowl of cereal that although caught still splashes all over the floor. I have very few maternity clothes I can stand to wear (there is only so many times you can wear the same pair of capris in a two month period) not to mention I only own four short sleeved maternity tops so that makes the top half just as boring. I have friends who tell me to just go buy some more clothes but I just buying something that I will only wear a couple months and then because maternity clothes are usually such low quality even if I have more kids it probably wouldn't last through the next one. And buying clothes when you have a none pregnant figure is much more fun! Okay so I vented, "I feel better now" -in the words of Amelia. Now with Fathers Day coming up I am feeling a little sad that I can't be with either of my dads this year and anyone who knows me will know that I didn't get cards in the mail yet. Unless the mail is running really fast most likely they won't get a card until Monday. So does anyone have ideas on how I can let them know I care? And while I am on the subject, ideas for the main dad in my life, (daddy to my kiddos) I don't want to spend much but I still have the energy for something creative.

Baby Belly Photo

I am never sure if I like having belly photos done or not. I look at myself and think, "that is not me." I am always surprised at how big I get. I set up the baby bed yesterday and it is slowly getting filled with all the things needed for a new little baby. I washed up baby clothes yesterday and Jordan and Dale could not believe how tiny the clothes are and how tiny the baby has to be to fit into those clothes. Which by the way thank you Chelsea for all the sweet little girl clothes, your things still are the bulk of my 0-6 months sizes. Did I mention we are having another girl? It won't be long now.

Here is a great belly picture! Notice you can't see any feet... which has been the case for me since about 7 months along, but only three weeks left so I won't complain to much. Amelia, and yard. You can tell it is comming along, notice the grass closest to me is pretty brown, well that was all free and it was so worth it because it is comming back beautifully. If you look close you can see the garden area in the back right corner but I will post some more as soon as we get everything cleaned up from the high speed winds we had last week. If you watched the news last week we were on tornado watch for about 2 hours and a couple of tornados touched down just 15 minutes north of here. I had my windows open just a crack and the winds were blowing so hard it knocked over a lamp upstairs and blew cups off the dinning table. It was the craziest thing I have ever witnessed. I was grateful we had a basement just incase!
I HATE RABBITS!
Is it Elmer Fud who says, "that pesky old rabbit". Welll I feel like Elmer Fud, a rabbit or maybe rabbits keep getting into my garden. They are not eating my carrots like Bugs Bunny but they think that the soft garden soil is the perfect place to dig a new home. So they dig up one plant for the hole and burry about three others in the proccess. We have friends from out of town come over and they can't seem to get enough of these "pesky rabbits" especially the baby ones, and they are so supprised that they can get so close to them befor they run away.

Here is a picture of our kitchen pre-move-in, I don't know what sort of pose I was trying for but obviously it didn't come out right.

Resurected Hobbies

So what do you do when you are busy growing a baby and you don't have the energy to do anything that involves moving major body parts. Find a hobby or in my case resurrect an old one. I never did much in the way of knitting, wash clothes and scarfs were about the extent of my ability, but over Christmas my mother encouraged me to try something new. So I did and Amelia got a new pair of socks (which she loves and wears right out of the drier and for three days after). She is modeling them in this picture. The second project was a knitting a bag for my mother's birthday. I didn't have a pattern so I made one up which is not the best idea but after starting over many times I finally got something I liked. The best part of this project was the felting. If you use 100% wool and do all the things your not supposed to do to it like wash with soap in hot water it will shrink down to a very tight weave. As you can tell I started to wash it then decided to take a picture so it is a little damp in the first picture. But the two pictures give you an idea of after only 15 minutes in the water how much it shrinks.
